I broke one of the hinges that attaches it to the machine but it was my fault. Otherwise it makes great coffee and my friends often comment on the machine and the coffee it makes. I still can't believe I paid under $150 for this machine. I just glued it back. Great buy. I've had it almost two years now and it still works perfectly and makes great coffee. The only problem I had related to the water resevoir.
Most people don't understand that the grinder is every bit as important in the making of a great shot of espresso as the espresso machine itself. As long as your double shots are timed for 25-30 seconds, the espresso will be fully developed with no bitterness and a wondful crema (if you have a good espresso blend). The steamer does an adequate job, as good as you can expect from a small machine.
If you don't want to spend money on a good espresso grinder, I recommend a pod machine. It is well built and I have had no problems with it.
I have owned this machine for over 1 year and have found it to be reliable and easy to use. It is very good.
Otherwise, this will make a better espresso. The machine is capable of making great espresso if you have the proper grinder.
That said, this machine makes as good an espresso as you will find at any good coffee shop.
So far it has worked great. I've only had this product for about a month, we have used it about 3 times a week.
The bags of coffee now last 1/2 as long as they used to. We have a nice burr grinder that produces a consistently-sized result so the shots are predictable and delicious. So easy is this machine to use that my 19 year-old son is also enjoying home-made cappuccinos and Americanos (my preferred brew). That is a good thing. I have been using a coffee maker similar to this at work so when I saw the Ariete priced so reasonably, I decided to get one for home.I carefully read the other user reviews and it seemed that the main objections were user-controlled circumstances that could be adjusted. I also like Amazon because it offers free shipping to Hawaii. We are completely satisfied with the Ariete.
One thing of interest, is that this machine is made in China. With the economy, that is a relief. I suppose the guy who lives in India would not agree. People there work for one fourth the amount we have to pay you.
This is the best espresso maker ever. I didn't even know they knew what espresso was. He'd be happy to have my job. I love espresso a lot, so I was happy to obtain a machine to make espresso right at home.
So, beat it." I hope that doesn't happen, but it's a cruel world. Maybe they don't and they're just making the machine based on a design that was given to them and they're just making the machine and going, "I wonder what this thing is for", except they're saying it in Chinese, of course. It saves me a lot of money because I don't have to go to Starbucks to get espresso anymore. I have a job right now, but you never know if my boss might come in one day and say, "We've decided to close this office and open one in India.
